With just two days left to the annual Nairobi Innovation Week, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi received cheques from various sponsors towards the event set to start on Monday 6th through to Friday 10th.
“Barclays Bank are our title sponsors for the second year running. We have had a long and outstanding relationship with the bank over the years,” Prof. Mbithi said.
“I would like to thank Barclays Bank for their continued financial support and in kind as we work towards building a sustainable ecosystem,” he added.
Yusuf Omari from the bank on the other hand applauded the university in building a sustainable future for the students and the country as well. He said that the bank is fully committed to building a sustainable ecosystem and that the bank has doubled its financial support up from 3 million shillings last year.
Ruth Ndegwa – the Director of Cooperate Services at Kenya Climate Change Innovation Center noted that the platform the Nairobi Innovation Week provides is fundamental to growth of innovation ecosystem.
“We are looking at beyond next week and we are looking at the possibility of working with startups that pitch and may have a climate angle,” she added.
